Samsung Galaxy S5 integrated authentication system with biometric authentication standard FIDO by PayPal

Samsung's top smartphone has just been released in India and 150 other countries such as Galaxy S5. It features provide a fingerprint scanner lock screen features biometric security.




The system lets users to login to PayPal on mobile web sites, mobile apps and in stores with their fingerprint.Users have to simple swipe over the Galaxy S5’s home button.This authentication system was announced at MWC 2014.

The new biometric authentication system is more secure that the traditional credential system because users don’t have to memorize a long password.



Hill Ferguson, Chief Product Officer at PayPal said,
“The day has finally come when Samsung Galaxy S5 users in 25 countries can ditch their usernames and passwords and simply login to PayPal with their fingerprint to shop at the millions of business that accept PayPal on mobile websites, mobile apps and in stores,” 
The Galaxy S5 is the first Smartphone comes with the FIDO authentication standard. This technology was developed Microsoft, Google, Lenovo and MasterCard.
“Customers can use their finger to pay with PayPal from their new Samsung Galaxy S5 because the FIDO Ready software on the device securely communicates between the fingerprint sensor on their device and PayPal’s service in the cloud,” explained John Lunn, PayPal Developer Network. “The only information the device shares with PayPal is a unique encrypted key that allows PayPal to verify the identity of the customer without having to store any biometric information on PayPal’s servers.”
